Design and Construction
Both Sennheiser E835 and Sennheiser E935 are dynamic cardioid microphones that are specially tailored for vocals, but also work wonderfully for most instruments. A dynamic microphone uses a very thin diaphragm made of mylar or other material which is attached to a coil of hair-thin copper wire. The coil is suspended in a magnetic field so that whenever sound vibrates the diaphragm, the coil moves up and down to create an electrical current. Such design allows for a highly efficient energy consumption. A dynamic mic usually does not require any additional phantom power, like the condenser counterparts, and typically sounds smoother and warmer. However, compared to Sennheiser E835, Sennheiser E935 has been reinforced further. Sennheiser E935 comes with a rugged and reliable metal construction. It features a shock-mounted capsule to reduce impact and handling noise, a hum compensating coil to minimize electrical interference, and a Neodymium ferrous magnet infused with boron which keeps the microphone stable regardless of weather or climate.

Output Quality
The output characteristics of Sennheiser E835 and Sennheiser E935 are largely similar to each other. They capture lows, mids, and highs very accurately, and also with a very low noise level. However, if you put the two into tests, you can then notice that Sennheiser E935 has more airiness in the high frequencies than Sennheiser E835. This is because of the extended frequency response range. While Sennheiser E835 already performs a great job with a frequency response range that spans from 40 Hz – 16 kHz, Sennheiser E935 comes with a frequency response range of 40 Hz – 18 kHz. The increase adds an improved clarity to mids and highs, which is beneficial to vocals. Sennheiser E935 is also a little bit more sensitive to sounds than Sennheiser E835, allowing the model to capture more subtle details. However, these improvements may not be very noticeable.
